In total, 27,156 vehicles sold between 2002 and 2005 have been recalled in Australia.
Globally, around 1.35 million Jazz models (also known as the Fit in some oversea markets) have been recalled for the low beam wiring defect.
The official recall notice published on the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) website says the defect may stop the low beam lights from switching on:
“There is insufficient margin set for the length of an electric wire connected to the headlight switch. As a result, the terminal joint portion moves, contact resistance increases, the terminal generates heat, and the coupler melts,” the notice reads.
Honda Australia says owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by mail and are advised to contact authorised Honda Dealerships for inspection and rectification if required.
More than 734,000 vehicles have been recalled in Japan for the headlight issue, as well as around 380,000 in Europe and more than 143,000 in the US.
